Swiss Vetterli

In 1869 the Vetterli was the most advanced Military Rifle of its day. Utilizing the same self cocking bolt as the Italian Vetterli and the under barrel tube magazine system of the 1866 Henry Rifle holding up to 13 rounds and a rate of fire up to 21 rounds per minute. This was the first repeating rifle to be widely adopted for military service. Designed by Friedrick Vetterli manager of the famous Schweizeriche Industry Gesellshaft (SIG) factory at Neuhausen.
The Design was improved upon in 1871 to 1878 and in its final form the M1881 with an improved trigger and rear sight scale extended to 1600 meter range
